Snake (Fire)
(February 18, 1977 to February 6, 1978)

Key Words

Mysterious, inscrutable, wise, self-reliant, tenacious.

General Character

Snakes like Dragons, radiate power, energy and boundless self-confidence... They are, however, more subtle than Dragon's, making their moves less openly; and more sybaritic: they are lovers of the luxuries in life and take pleasure in good food, good drink and elegant living... Snakes are, in fact, epicurean in their taste for luxuries; a Snake may be happy to dine on bread and cheese, but will want the cheese to be a good one, exactly at the proper stage of ripeness, and the bread to be home baked... Similarly, the Snake will be prepared to sit in a cheap seat at the theater - as long as the play is really worth watching and the actors are  thoroughly competent... Snakes will rather go without than put up with second best, but then they very rarely have to do this... For, again like Dragons, although not to the same extent, they seem to have an ability to attract money... They are not, however lucky in either gambling or risky speculations... A Snake who is a habitual gambler is almost always a poor Snake... An innate intuitive wisdom is characteristic of most Snakes towards secrecy, often draws Snakes towards the occult and the mystic... Indeed, some students of chinese astrology claim that a substantial proportion of Snakes have the capacity to develop psychic abilities... Snakes are almost always successful in both their careers and private lives... Those who aren't tend to fail spectacularly... Snakes are rarely mediocre; they are either at the top of the pile or right at the bottom...

Emotions and Love Life

Snakes are sexually passionate and sometimes give the impression that they are promiscuous... This impression is usually false; the secrecy with which many Snakes like to cloak their activities often gives other people the idea that clandestine affairs are being hidden from them when, in reality, everything is perfectly legitimate and above board... In their romantic lives Snake men and women display their characteristic insistence on having 'only the best'... If they can't get the partners they yearn for, they will remain alone... The Boar, the  Monkey, the Horse and the Tiger are the least likely animals to provide satisfactory partners for the Snake; but a lot of Snakes are so subtle that they get on well with these animals, even though they don't have a great deal in common... The best combinations are Snake/Snake, Snake/Ox and Snake/Rooster; other combinations are reasonably satisfactory...

The Fire Snake is a suspicious animal, avoiding exposing him or herself to the slightest possibility of being harmed by others... Fire Snakes often express their supposed convictions very strongly but  the only thing they are convinced of is the importance of power and money... This conviction, allied with an ability to influence the thought and feelings of others, ensures that Fire Snakes make successful politicians, company directors and trade union leaders...
